It looks like some dream sequence from Gharr... But with another advanced group around who are referred to as "Ghosts" it does make you question other possibilities.

If it's a real dream sequence, maybe we'll learn something about Gharr's past and his motivations for studying alien planets and races, particularly civilisations.

Dream sequence ? Psionic power ? Something else?

"Wha ... ? You're running away from me? Oh, you must be my professional reputation ..."

On a somewhat more serious note, adult!Gharr is wearing his expedition suit here. I'd take that as a hint that he's not totally drifted off into hallucinations and memories. Some low-level(-consciousness) interaction with his implants or the signals they receive, maybe?

Black void, wet floor, are these memories of hallucinations had during isolation training? Or residual brain damage from the shuttle crash?

I've had these kinds of dreams too, usually after having too much sugar before bed.

Are childhood Raharrs skin patterns blotchy at first and become more defined later?
