Blog: Redraw of chapter 1 is happening

Recently, I've managed to streamline my comic-making process enough that I'm comfortable with trying to do some extra work besides the main updates. I opted to make a long-overdue rehaul of the first chapter with that surplus vigor.

I didn't exactly know what I was doing back then and wasn't a particularly skilled artist either (not that I'm very skilled now... but certainly better, at least).

So the first pages are sort of a mess both in terms of the quality of art and the quality of pacing. And it's the first thing newcomers will check out if they'll decide to see more than just the latest page. But also, I might try to put the comic to print (at least, domestically first, sorry guys) and this also requires retouching of the first chapter for much the same reasons.

I do not know yet how exactly the new version will be released. I will certainly replace the first chapter entirely when the remake is done, but that won't happen for at least the next half a year, so what can I do?

Options are to either release it a page at a time concurrently to the regular updates as an extra chapter, or release it in bulk 10 pages at a time as soon as I'm done with them (and move everything later), or hold out until it's done entirely. What would you prefer?

Meanwhile, here's a few sneak peeks at the renewed art. The new chapter grew 5 additional pages, due to aforementioned pacing issues, and the panel layout will become more dense and closer to the modern LTC page density.

I made this blog post not only to share the news, but also to remove that "hiatus announcement" latest blog link from the comic ^^"

If it's not too much trouble, putting the redrawn pages in continuity, but leaving the original pages up in the archive gives readers the option to view either/both depending on their preference.

(As a matter of fact, when I discover a new web comic, it's a toss-up whether I'll read it latest-to-first in its entirety, or jump to the first page after going backwards N pages to read the rest in the proper order. Don't quite remember which way it was with LtC, but I found it when it had a lot less published pages than today, which raises the chances of me just sticking to the reverse order.)

Hmmmmmm. Since it won't be advancing or changing the plot in any way (right?), I can't say that I have a marked preference there. I would like if both versions would remain available in parallel for a while so that we can actually compare them, though ...

FWIW, my preference would be to save it up & release it when the chapter is done, so I can (re-) binge it all at once!

The renewed art looks great!
