Made major concessions by "allowing" them to keep the alien artifacts that are already on their territory and the alive alien?

Unless "Protagistan" is a VERY minor "Europeanish" country (and I don't think it is) I doubt a lot could be done if other nations were not "allowing" them to maintain custody of it all. There are very vew Europeanish countries (even the small ones) that would be easily invaded and conquered. In all honesty I'm surprised "Protagistan" would even play ball so far as to act like the situation is anything other than them controlling it all.

To be fair, it's POSSIBLE the major knows nothing more than his order to get a recording from Nea. He may well be unaware of the general's greater actions to contact the fleet.

On the other hand, a military we had begun to look at as reliable, if somewhat secretive, is obviously no longer working with the international leaders and might be much more inclined towards harsh actions to maintain secrecy.

The 'concession' is that everyone's necks are on the chopping block, and that the locals are betraying the trust the other larger nations have extended them, by (apparently) going behind their backs.

Part of that trust is the vital necessity of information sharing, so as to reduce the chances of unexpected things happening. Unexpected things happening can lead to misunderstanding, over reactions from third parties that have not been kept up the date, and nuclear orbital bombardment when the aliens retaliate.

Those are the stakes here. And if Protagistan really are keeping secrets, then they are being very silly and very irisponsible. This goes way beyond 'only one person can be in charge', and right into 'risking the human species because of [EXPUNGED] waving'.

If things continue down this course, then the larger international community would be well within their rights, and responsabilities, to use the 'international law is not a suicide pact' card, and look at options for more direct intervention.

Sorry, but this is one of those occasions when the beaurocratic jerk is actually right.

I misread that as "major condescensions".

Or ... did I?

I love "Protagistan".

First time I read that text-bubble , I read it as "..the Alien alive"

Which , for some reason , had a VERY different tone and implication to it.

Lets hope someone does not read a order likewise....

"Will no one rid me of this troublesome Alien" scenario

The Major wants for Iskra to side-step him and talk directly with the general, that way he'll be off the hook... I think? Is that what's going on here?

---

Who did Zane contact in 162? The Protagonistan government or the International Operation/Organisation? I feel like Iskra's organisation should already know more than the major. She/her organisation seems surprised at the sudden movement of the fleet(or just Zane's ship) (189)

---

Also I love the exaggerated body motions.

Who did Zane contact in 162?

The major and Iskra were present when Nea was asked to contact the fleet, and as far as my face-blindness allows me to tell, it's general Bahin addressing the Raharrs in that message on behalf of the humans, so it'd be difficult for the Protagonistroops to be out of the loop there. Matter of fact, I'm rather raising an eyebrow or three at the total ignorance Iskra showcases here ...

TRIVIA
Raharrs descended from the evolutionary branch that can be described as "apelike cats" by their evolutionary niche. Although initially carnivorous and solitary, they were forced to become omnivorous and form persistent packs during the latest of the rare ice ages of their homeworld, approximately 30 million years ago.
