Up till now I'd been pigeonholing Iskra as "obstructive tin god", and honestly she still might be... but if Pronin and Bahin have been keeping contacting the Fleet and getting a reply secret from Iskra and Nea both, that is a blunder on their part that Iskra might be the solution to. And she does seem to genuinely mean well.

It's fun to see the plot thickening. I hope cooler heads prevail here, because Zane is on the way, and he's unlikely to be in a good mood.

If I may offer a point of English grammar, Iskra's first line in the seventh panel should be "That son of a [EXPUNGED]," or maybe "He's a son of a [EXPUNGED]." Saying "He's son of a [EXPUNGED]" without the indefinite article article "a" doesn't work in English.

Please bear in mind that, being a UN representative, Iskra may not be a native speaker of whichever language the locals speak (and have semi-taught Nea), and the b0rken Engrish may simply reflect that ...

I know Nea is still learning the local language, so I'm not surprised she's speaking in broken sentences, but it hadn't occurred to me that Iskra might not speak it fluently either, so fair point.

Also I'm sorry for triggering the language filter. 😅

I think Nea and Iskra are going to be good friends. In fact they have to, I do not think neither is coming out anytime soon, since that door is closed and locked behind Iskra and the Major now knows Nea has realized she´s been bluffed and that Iskra has figured out way too much. Besides the one-way mirror its a bugged cell after all.

Lets hope Zane can save both in time before things turn really nasty, as in "lets mop up the inconvenient evidence" nasty. We´ll see.

Also , they are going to share that bunk.....and the shower......

Well , there is a silver lining on the rain-clouds after all

Honestly Iskra, you have everything you could hope to get with that answer.

Either you're entering a discussion with Nea and trying to get her on your side out of anger towards the Major, or you're high-tailing it out of there to inform your superiors.

Regardless, I have my doubts you're going to get far before you're stopped.

In other words, we're back to the discussion of dead man's switches. But I guess that Iskra and her bosses stand a better chance at installing an effective one than the gang ...

TRIVIA
Before becoming a webcomic, Leaving The Cradle was initially developed as a modification for Source engine, back in 2007. It was vastly different back then, much closer to the usual space opera look and feel, and the plot had nothing in common with the webcomic version, sharing only one character.
