Due to the species diversity of the Alliance, there is no standardized version of a medkit. Each member of a landing party must carry on themselves a personalized med-dock station outfitted with instruments and drugs specialized for their biology, and in many cases for the specific individual. The station can sync with the wrist computer to perform an analysis of the patient's condition and to provide instructions for self-treatment in the field, if necessary.
And it seems that the earthlings' medkit wasn't completely useless after all as well!
