Might not have to . If the government checks for cell towers near the landing sight , they might still be able to determine who was there or narrow it down to people heading away from the location.

Oh, I never would have said that they won't give themselves away by accident. In fact, I quite expect that their cell phones have already betrayed them, just by being on them when they spent time in the future crash site and then decamped with Gharr in tow, and it's just a question of whether the government will do the requisite homework before they get outed some other way.

I just guessed that Mark was not doing it on purpose.

Before becoming a webcomic, Leaving The Cradle was initially developed as a modification for Source engine, back in 2007.
It was vastly different back then, much closer to the usual space opera look and feel, and the plot had nothing in common with the webcomic version, sharing only one character.
