(Reply to Lord Eric, in case it gets waylaid as well. And FWIW, the browser getting redirected to some totally different page while I'm still typing the comment is quite the bother ...)

Umh. The distance wouldn't make that much of a difference to a bullet out of their main weapons, would it ... ?

"some other page" doesn't exactly tells me what happens, really =)

That happened to me too. I got redirected to the previous comic page halfway through typing, paged back and found the text I'd typed still there, but I guess it wasn't flagged as a reply anymore.

JoB, my point is that she and Pronin are far enough apart that they're in different directions from the armed guard.

Oh, I know what it is. It's the arrow keys page navigation javascript. It doesn't know when people are typing.

Ah yes, that's probably it. I got taken once to the preceding page, and once to the "to be continued" one, which corresponds to the cursor-left and cursor-right arrow keys.

(The text I already typed is gone when *I* hit the "previous web page" button, though.)

Ok, I think I managed to add an exception to the script, it shouldn't jump pages when typing in a comment anymore. Tested it on this comment.

(Works on my side, too, thanks!)

(... I guess that it's Commentics itself that apparently limits the depth of threads to "Re:"^5, so that I'm not allowed to reply to your actual comment ... ?)

Yeah, it doesn't allow me to set a number higher than 5.

Or at least one of the armed guards. I really wish I could edit these.

Great, new system won't let me delete or edit comments. This was supposed to be a reply to JoB.

Perhaps I can help.

If sharing the information with base, they would be creating a base line for direction finding. Angle of signal from each point along the line would give bearing and distance .

Is that hybrid Alliance/Human technology there?

Avatar

The thing Nea plugged into her headpiece? No, that's just a different model of comm module, with a much stronger signal. It's what Nea wanted them to get from the shuttle.

Heh, seats not designed for tails.

Or for squishy humans, come a traffic accident. (No seat belts, no head rests, somewhat arbitrary orientations.)

Also - and probably a lot more out of character for a military -, if Nea were to jump up to try something, those armed guards would have to point their guns right at their COs. Not a lot of learning from the last escape attempt, is there ... ?

She isn't actually sitting next to Pronin and Iskra. Perspective kinda makes it look like she is, but she's actually several seats away.

Yay! Another page!

Inventive use of the speech bubble (to show the inside of the truck.)

They're only starting out -so maybe we'll see some results next week?

(Or maybe something else will happen.)

They want to listen in.

TRIVIA
The Alliance space stretches for an impressive 16 thousand light years along the longest axis and contains approximately 12 billion star systems. Despite that, 99.99% of those star systems haven't been explored even by an automatic mapping drone yet, and the borders of the Alliance space are defined mostly by the reach of spaceships from the nearest colony or space station, and in general are purely informative.
