Latest blog post: Redraw of chapter 1 is happening (2024-05-11)

Author's comment:

Officially, spacing people is considered a crime of murder. However, unofficially, in the depths of space, when the nearest legal authority figure might be lightyears away... Sometimes, unfortunate accidents during EVA tend to happen in some rare exceptional cases. People involved tend to keep it under wraps, but rumors spread anyway.

... yeah, I guess "don't stir the water" does make a likely idiom for people with a semi-aquatic evolution. And Hekaht promptly propping his stirrer up on the railing a likely involuntary reaction to it.

Also, new bit of Raharr body language acquired: indignant arm-on-arm-on-hip.

Well... They were kind of headed Ancients know where anyway. It is kind of an expedition. The why still applies somewhat though. Its not exploration for exploration's sake but also another objective behind these Ghosts.

Ahshu is making herself the voice of reason now.

Considering that they both have access to the bridge, I was wondering why he wouldn't simply(?) do it himself ... but if I get his drift in the last panel correctly, he will now ...

That´s how you make others do the things you want them to do without risking your own "stirrer" :

Tell them to absolutely NOT do it when fully aware they can at anytime. Action is ensured.

True leadership skills ! I see Ahshu going far in her career.

Lets hope however it will not be the Brig

If you want to "go far" in spacefaring, why not free yourself from all external limitations and walk out an airlock ...

He has a point, maybe expecting there's a better solution than all this mystery above his paygrade and security level. (There probably isn't, because it's done to protect him from what he shouldn't know.)

TRIVIA
Many homeworlds of the respective species are still divided into countries, but freshly established colonies on other planets are almost always monolithic and basically independent, since they sprawled from a single initial outpost, and time lag involved due to interstellar distances making remote management of the colony from a homeworld to be ineffective and frustrating at best.
